Braille Appliances

These products help them function independently in almost all walks of life. Established in 1952 it took the credit of the only supplier of Braille Appliances till 1997, when a workshop was established at Katpadi (Tamil Nadu) by Worth Trust. The workshop produces & distributes a wide range of aids & appliances for writing, computing, mobility, recreation and to carry out routine activities of daily life.
For easy availability of these appliances, the Institute has set up extension sales counters. The Braille Appliances can be purchased on line as well as off line and off the shelf from various sales counters located in different parts of the country.

Braille Books

The Institute’s Central Braille Press is the oldest Braille Press in the country established in 1951. Its Regional Braille Press was established in 2008 at Poonamallee, Chennai. They produce Braille text books, reference books and literature of general interest for the visually impaired persons in Hindi, English, Punjabi, Urdu, Sanskrit, Tamil, Garo, Khasi, Lusai & Nepali. We also publish four Braille magazines ‘Antarpath’ focused on women, ‘Braille Dhara’ and ‘Braille Chronicles’ focused on youth and ‘Nayan Rashmi’, a magazine for general masses.
