NIVH Excellence Awards

Agencies like NIVH have a crucial role in bringing to light the talents and potentials of the visually impaired persons. The International Day of the Persons with Disabilities provides an excellent opportunity for showcasing their achievements. At this occasion, we felicitate five visually impaired individuals for their outstanding contributions in this chosen field of work. It also has an inspirational value for other blind persons to continue to march ahead in their field of work and try hard to achieve their goals despite all physical and social barriers. For talent search, a committee of visually impaired officers is constituted. They propose a panel of candidates out of whom five individuals are selected representing diverse fields of work and effort is also made to maintain gender balance.

On 3rd December, 2009, Hon’ble Governor of Uttarakhand, Smt. Margaret Alva presided over the function and conferred the NIVH Excellence Award upon Shri Krishna Gopal Tiwari, SDM Chindwara District, M.P.; Capt. (Retd.) Jayanta Kumar Sengupta, a successful entrepreneur from West Bengal; Ms. Jainab F. Chinkamwalla, Lecturer in French and Translator for CIPLA Pharmaceuticals, Mr. Pranav Lal, Consultant, Mahindra Special Service Group Mahindra and Mahindra Pvt. Ltd. and Ms. Anjali Arora, Law Manager, Airport Authority of India.
